Ofcom accreditation
Ofcom is the main regulator of the communications industry, covering TV, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services.
Ofcom also regulate online comparison services, asking that they adhere to some simple, but important, rules:
Accessibility
The service can be accessed by disabled users, and give users the opportunity to compare suppliers both online and offline.
Charging
The service is free or only charges a reasonable sum.
Transparency
The service must be clear about any commercial arrangement with suppliers.
Accuracy
The service must stay accurate with up to date information
Be comprehensive
he service must show an appropriate number of suppliers and take into account customer services throughout the sign up process.
Ofcom's scheme called the Price Accreditation scheme is awarded to companies who feel that they meet these criteria. The aim of this is to highlight those services that offer the most accurate and easy to use information for their users and only services accredited by Ofcom can display the Ofcom Price Accreditation logo.
Our comparison tool is powered by the digital experts at Simplifydigital and they are the only company in the UK to be accredited by Ofcom for digital TV, broadband and home phone.
